CARE INSTRUCTIONS & SAFETY

Jewelry & Pendants

jewelry

Most of my wire-wrapped pieces have been intentionally oxidized to give them a unique, antique look. Even without this treatment, copper naturally oxidizes (tarnishes) over time. To maintain its character:

Routine Cleaning & Tarnish Removal

You can clean it using any of these methods to restore its original shine:

  • Soap & Water: Wash gently with lukewarm, soapy water. Dry completely and buff with a soft cloth.
  • Lemon & Salt: Sprinkle salt on half a lemon and rub gently over the copper until tarnish dissolves. Rinse thoroughly with water and dry.
  • Vinegar & Salt: Apply a small amount of household vinegar and salt to the piece, gently rub away oxidation, rinse completely, and dry.
  • Jewelry Cloth: Use a dedicated jewelry polishing cloth to buff out light tarnish.

Prevention & Storage

  • Storage: Store pieces in a cool, dark, and dry place when not in use.
  • Avoid Triggers: Moisture, heat, direct sunlight, chlorine, and salt air accelerate tarnishing. Remove copper jewelry before swimming, showering, or applying lotions.

Copper Safety & Skin Reaction

  • Green Discoloration: Bare copper naturally reacts with skin oils, sweat, and body pH, which can temporarily turn your skin green. This is a harmless, non-toxic reaction and not an allergic response.
  • Removal: Wash the affected skin with warm water and soap.

  • Do not use abrasive cleaning products
  • Store in a dry place away from sunlight
  • To restore shine, gently polish with a soft cloth.

Product safety:

Care & Maintenance:

  • Dry Clean Only: Embroidered velvet and brocade fabric should be dry cleaned by a professional. Avoid washing the fabric at home as it may damage the delicate design and texture.
  • Do Not Tumble Dry: High heat can cause the fabric to shrink or become distorted.
  • Do Not Bleach: Bleaching can weaken the fibers and cause the colors to fade or become discolored.
  • Iron on Low Heat: Use a pressing cloth to protect the delicate fibers and avoid applying too much pressure to the fabric.
  • Hang to Dry: Avoid wringing or twisting the fabric as it may damage the delicate fibers.

Product Safety:

  • Not suitable for children under 3 years - choking & entanglement hazard.
